Microneedling is an aesthetic procedure that helps treat fine lines, acne scars, stretch marks, and overall appearance of the skin. It is also called collagen induction therapy (CIT) because it stimulates collagen production by creating controlled micro-injuries to the face, neck, décolleté, arms, hands, legs, abdomen, and back. If you are wondering if microneedling is for you, keep reading to learn more about how the procedure is done here at Aura MedSpa, and what the benefits are.
Safety and Benefits
Microneedling is a minimally invasive procedure that boasts many benefits for different skin types. While there are very affordable microneedling kits you can buy at home, the safest bet is always through a licensed provider. Home devices have duller needles that temporarily stimulate the blood vessels to brighten the skin. However, not only do these not work as well as the professional ones, but you also run the risk of other issues if not taken care of properly or using it on infected skin.

At Aura MedSpa, our professional microneedling helps with the following skin issues:
- Large pores
- Hair loss
- Acne
- Dark spots
- Scars
- Sun damage
The Procedure
Our aestheticians use the Eclipse MicroPen® Elite, which automates the microneedling. The area is first cleansed, then a numbing cream is applied. The MicroPen® Elite is then passed over the area, and the tiny needles inside make small pricks on the surface of the skin. The micro openings also allow serums, topical gels, and creams to be infused deep into the skin’s surface to improve the skin’s appearance. Smaller areas can take 10 minutes, while larger areas and more advanced treatments may be longer.
While the risks are minimal for the procedure, some typical things to expect are minimal pain and redness. You also may see some blood from the pricks. Deeper, more involved treatments may result in some bruising. Also, Microneedling isn’t an immediate solution. The procedure stimulates collagen production, which may take several days after the skin is fully healed.

It’s important to remember that not every person is a candidate for microneedling. To get the best results for your skin, consulting with a professional first is vital. To set up your consultation with our aestheticians at Aura MedSpa, call (813) 960-2400, or request an appointment below.
